The Indus Signal

Methodology

About this explorer

A free, faithful window into the Global 2030 Megatrends research by The Indus Signal: the full breadth of the landscape, with the depth in the report it accompanies.

Data as of 22 July 2026 (America/Toronto)

How the research was built

  1. 250 candidates, 33 canonical trends

The taxonomy began with 250 candidate trends, screened, merged, and adjudicated down to 33 canonical trends - 9 Tier 1 families and 24 Tier 2 sub-trends - each with an immutable ID (MT2030-T001 through T033) and a documented inclusion decision.

  2. Dual independent scoring, dissent preserved

Every trend was scored twice, independently, on four separate decision dimensions - likelihood, response feasibility, impact, and urgency (ordinal 1-5). Divergences were adjudicated under explicit decision rules, and the dissent is preserved in the record, not averaged away. The four scores are deliberately never combined into a composite ranking - a single 'trend score' would hide exactly the disagreements a decision-maker needs to see.

  3. Independent red-team pass

A separate red-team review challenged inclusion decisions, scores, causal claims, and evidence use before the dataset was frozen. Structural remediations from that pass are part of the frozen record.

  4. Fixed evidence cutoff

All evidence was collected up to 22 July 2026 (America/Toronto) and then hash-frozen: every input file to the report - and to this app - is verified against a SHA-256 manifest. Nothing is silently updated; the data changes only when a new edition ships.

  5. 93 verified sources

The published evidence base rests on 93 verified bibliography works, with every claim classified (fact, forecast, scenario, or inference) and every citation resolved against the source ledger.

What is free, and what is in the report

Everything you can see in this app is free and complete: all 33 trend names, IDs, and definitions; the 9 families; all four decision scores for every trend; the full 81-edge interdependency network with one-line causal mechanisms; and the materiality grids behind My Exposure Map at their qualitative rating level. The paid report adds the depth: full trend profiles with drivers and transmission mechanisms, the complete evidence chains and 93-work bibliography, scorer dissent and adjudication trails, 33 ninety-day action plans with staged roadmaps to 2030, the four integrated scenarios with stress tests, the AI use-case and risk registers, and the appendix tables. Locked sections in this app show only counts and titles — the gated content itself is not in this site's code, data files, or network traffic.

What this app is not

  • It is not investment, financial, legal, or tax advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
  • It is not a prediction engine. Scores are structured ordinal judgments with documented uncertainty, not forecasts of specific outcomes.
  • It is not a live feed. The data is deliberately frozen at the research cutoff; the world has moved since, by design.
  • It is not the report. The free tier shows the complete breadth of the landscape; the depth - evidence chains, full profiles, action plans, scenarios, dissent - is in the paid report.
  • Views are solely the author's and are not attributable to any past, present, or future employer. AI tools assisted research synthesis and production; all inclusion, scoring, and adjudication decisions are documented in the frozen record.
